Website Hosting FAQs

Does ICOM offer Website hosting?

Yes we do, but only for the clients whose websites we have developed. We added website hosting to our portfolio of services years ago as a way to eliminate frustration for our clients. In the event of a website being down, clients only have to place one call. Hosting with ICOM eliminates finger pointing. We take full responsibility.

How much does it cost to have my Website hosted with ICOM?

Pricing varies depending on the size of data and bandwidth requirements. If the application or organization has unique needs, that also may have an impact on pricing. Your ICOM representative can provide you with full details once we have a full understanding of your requirements. The ICOM hosting fees are very reasonable and offer a great value.

Is technical support included with ICOM hosting?

Yes. When you host your website with ICOM, we will do whatever it takes to make sure the website is running properly. There is never an extra charge to keep the website running when it is hosted with ICOM.

What training does the ICOM staff have?

The team at ICOM has a very broad background in technology degrees. Staff core competencies include website development, multi-media, graphics, network design and administration, database development, and computer repair. The technical staff at ICOM attends industry sponsored seminars on a monthly basis. In addition, ICOM invests in ongoing training for staff and is a member of CompTIA. The networking and security teams working in the data center are required to be certified. They are also thoroughly experienced in managing and monitoring enterprise level networks. The Certified Network Technicians in the data center are trained to the highest industry standards.

What physical security measures are employed to keep the Web servers safe?

Our physical security includes: keycard protocols, twenty-four hour interior and exterior surveillance monitor access, and biometric scanning protocols.

Who has physical access to the servers?

Only authorized data center personnel are granted access and every employee of the data center undergoes a thorough background and security check before they are hired.

What type of environment is the server kept in?

The HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system is N+1 redundant. This ensures that a duplicate system immediately comes online should there be an HVAC system failure. Every 90 seconds, all the air is circulated and filtered to remove dust and contaminants, and the advanced fire suppression systems are designed to stop fires from spreading in the unlikely event one should occur.

What is the power backup for the servers?

Should a total utility power outage ever occur, all of our data centers' power systems are designed to run uninterrupted, and every server is protected by a conditioned UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Our UPS power subsystem is N+1 redundant, with instantaneous failover if the primary UPS fails. If the extended utility power outage occurs, our routinely tested, on-site diesel generators can run indefinitely.

What type of core routing equipment is used?

We use fully redundant, enterprise-class routing equipment. Fiber carriers enter the data center at disparate points to guard against service failure.

Are backups included?

Yes. We perform a complete backup every other week and do an incremental backup (changed items) each day.

What are the hours of support?

Our business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Each of our clients has access to our support portal which offers emergency service via our website for issues after-hours.

What is your uptime record?

In the last four years we have experienced a total of 90 minutes of downtime.

Can I have access to the server?

In order to provide high security and uptime, only staff has access to the servers.

Does ICOM offer email?

Yes, we offer two types of email. One is a business class email system and the other is Microsoft Exchange.

What happens in the event of a disaster?

That is a loaded question as it depends on the type of a disaster. If a server goes down, the part is replaced within an hour. If all the hard drives fail, we have new ones installed and restore from our backup.

How are the servers protected?

Our servers are protected with Cisco firewalls.

Are the email servers and Web servers co-mingled?

No, we have separate servers for our Websites, email and Exchange.
